Swimming Development Programme

We are currently embarking on a change within our swimming lesson programme. Our swimming lessons are based upon a framework called the National Plan for Teaching Swimming (NPTS) produced by the Amateur Swimming Association (ASA), National Governing Body for Swimming. This is a national syllabus for delivering aquatics and provides stages for your child to progress and become competent, confident and safe in water.

The new programme will supersede the existing programme, and there will be some changes over the coming term to classes and skills being taught. The new NPTS framework encourages swimming lesson providers to deliver aquatic instruction in a FUN environment to aid learning and understanding. You may notice an emphasis on fun and games within your child’s swimming lesson; the use of games and fun activities to deliver learning outcomes is proven to be the most effective way for children to learn and all activities will have a purpose behind them.

The new syllabus is in line with PE in schools curriculum and the ability to cross over activities should enhance your child’s learning

This will put you on our waiting list for the grade specified and you will then be contacted when a place becomes available. If your child swims elsewhere, you can keep us informed of progress, so that we can place them in the correct level.

Alternatively, look out for holiday courses which are booked on a first come first served basis.
