After nearly sixteen years as the Manager of Tadcaster Swimming Pool Glen Johnson has decided to hang up his whistle.

The new Acting Facility Manager is Chris Porter. Chris has worked at the pool since September 2000. He started as an apprentice and completed his NVQ’s in Sport and Recreation whilst gaining industry qualifications such as National Pool Lifeguard and L1 Swimming Teachers. Chris soon moved up through the organisation to become a Duty Manager. In 2007 Chris became an Assistant Manager and completed his Higher Diploma in Sport and Recreation gaining the ‘most improved student award’.

Chris is now in the first week of his new role and said the following “I never thought that I would get the opportunity to manage such a prestigious Facility. I am looking forward to new and exciting challenges over the next 12 months and would like to thank all the staff and volunteers for their continued support”.

Tadcaster Community Swimming Pool has achieved the swim21 award.

Tadcaster Triathlon 2010

It's back!

On the 3rd May 2010 the popular Tadcaster Triathlon makes its return.

Run on exactly the same course as in previous years. The bike takes a rural route towards the villages of Boston Spa and Bramham before returning to Tadcaster. The run follows the river bank on an unsurfaced footpath to Newton Kyme where it turns back towards Tadcaster along a tarmac path by the road.

This is an ideal race for beginners looking for a short distance race without the extra challenge of open water or experienced triathletes who are looking for an early season warm up event.

Places available for Fundraisers. Anyone wishing to race and raise funds for Tadcaster Swimming Pool Trust and who expect to be able to raise a minimum of £100, please contact Chris Porter.

Happy New Year

First some good news

We are pleased to have completed all of our maintenance objectives which included repairing the front doors, the balcony door, re-grouting the ladies shower area and repairing all of the lockers. We also had the roof repaired and replaced the damaged ceiling tiles below.

In addition we have also had the usual full service of the filtration plant, electrical inspection, certification and replacement of some of the pool lighting.

We are also offering off peak adult swimming and fitness every weekday afternoon between 12 noon and 3pm, subject to timetabling and availability.

An adult swim will cost just £3 and any gym admission will be £2.25

Now some bad news

Due to our funding situation, we have had to revise some of our pool programme in order to increase guaranteed income. This has resulted in the Trust removing swimming on a Friday between 3pm and 6pm. We apologise if this affects you.

....and finally, more good news

We are now offering additional swimming lessons on Wednesday morning for both tots and adults, Wednesday evening for adults between 7.30pm and 9pm and we are tackling our significant waiting list for junior lessons by offering extra sessions every Friday afternoon. In addition we will also be expanding our highly successful Swim Squad.

We look forward to seeing you throughout 2010 and wish you a very healthy New Year.
